Innovation has been one of the key characteristics of Villeroy & Boch, ever since the company was founded in 1748.

Over the last few years in particular, Villeroy & Boch have launched a number of technological innovations that have considerably enhanced our products and processes. This demonstrates that for Villeroy & Boch manufacturing and environmental protection go hand in hand.

Newly-developed materials, such as ceramicplus, save energy and water. State-of-the-art environmental technologies mean that, in some cases, resource-intensive clean-up processes, such as wastewater treatment, filters or chemicals, are no longer required.

For example, Villeroy & Boch’s Mettlach plant has been able to reduce its wastewater discharge into the River Saar from 407,000 cubic metres in 2006 to 230,000 cubic metres in 2007. And this without any decrease in production output. In 2008, the wastewater discharge was reduced by a further 40,000 cubic metres – roughly equivalent to the wastewater produced by 200 four-person households. And Villeroy & Boch is continually progressing further along this sustainability route.
